Sometimes, we come across unfamiliar inner selves and wonder in confusion: “I have this in me?” We all have several alter egos living in our minds. One’s inner self is not of one single form; sometimes it is as complex as a labyrinth and at other times it is scattered and fragmented.
This work does not simply depict one’s inner world, but invites viewers into a space brimming with curiosity to meet their unfamiliar selves. Instead of looking at fixed images in the work’s mirrors, visitors face inner selves that are distorted or transformed. The mirror is the only means through which we can see ourselves, and the work’s use of black and white symbolizes the light and darkness in our inner selves.
